First Impressions: Briogeo Wash Day Review

As a long-time Sephora Insider, I have always wanted to try the Briogeo products. Briogeo is what I would consider a luxury haircare brand based on the price of the products. With the holidays coming up, there are a lot of sales and holiday kits available for consumers. I obtained the Detox + Restore Kit from Briogeo Hair Care via Sephora.com. In the kit was the scalp revival micro-exfoliating shampoo and don’t despair, repair deep conditioning mask. The kit would have the full-sized products for $49 versus the $78 value if you bought them separately.

Scalp Revival ($42)

charcoal + coconut oil micro-exfoliating shampoo

My first impression of this shampoo was the look and smell. It’s a charcoal color and smells like mint. I expected it to have beads since it says it is exfoliating, but that was not the case. Although there were no physical exfoliants, the shampoo still managed to cleanse and detox my scalp. The product is a whip-like texture, and a little goes a long way. I initially applied too much of the product to my hair which may be why my hair felt a bit stripped afterward.

You can always tell that your shampoo is irritating your scalp or that your scalp isn’t clean if it’s itchy and red after. I didn’t experience this issue with this shampoo. According to Briogeo’s website, this product has been clinically proven to show a 75% reduction in hair breakage after 3 uses. Whether or not that turns out to be accurate, this is definitely going on my favorite shampoos list!

Don’t Despair, Repair! ($36)

deep conditioning mask

This product didn’t have a fantastic smell, but it was still moisturizing on my strands when I applied it. After using the shampoo, my hair felt stripped, and this product glided onto my strands, offering them moisture. This mask is easy to detangle with, and a little goes a long way. Again, I got a bit carried away with the amount of product I used. If you have been following me for a while, you know I am a sucker for a good deep conditioner, and this one is definitely making a list. My curls were bouncing after rinsing this out. I loved the way my hair felt and looked after using this product.

Rating:

Scalp Revival Micro-exfoliating Shampoo $42 (8 fl oz.): 🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀

Don’t Despair! Deep Conditioner Mask $36 (8 fl oz.): 🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀

Overall, these two products were a game-changer for me. After only one wash, I have seen a significant difference in my scalp and hair strands. Detoxing your scalp should be a must for hair care, especially for those who use heavier products on their hair. Although the price of these products is steep, I would still purchase these separately if it meant I got to keep this shampoo and hair mask in my stash. I am hardly impressed by shampoos, but this one really did take the cake.
