Reviewing Products I Got From Ulta

It's safe to say that I am a product junkie. I love trying new hair products because it's fun and I discover new things my hair loves. I have been in the habit of getting samples of skincare from Sephora to try and see if they are worth the money. Last year I bought the items listed below and tried most of them out until they were empty. These items are from Ulta, but you can get them online as well.

*The following items were purchased November 24th of last year.

No.7

I tried No.7's Early Defence Day and Night cream. The Night cream was very nourishing as I love using creams at night after using acne treatments which can be very drying. The day cream would be ideal for someone with dry to normal skin, but on me, it left my skin even oilier than it usually is. I don't mind a dewy look as I'm used to it especially with having acne prone oily skin. But the day cream left me with so much shine it looked like chicken could be fried on it.

The Beautiful Skin Age Defence Cleanser was a cream cleanser. Cream cleansers are good for those with dry skin and sometimes oily skin during the winter, but this particular product did nothing for me. My skin didn't feel like it was clean after using it. I don't like my face to feel stripped of all of its natural oils, but I do expect my skin to feel like the pores have just been cleaned out. I think this cleanser is great as a way to take off makeup because it's so gentle and milk like. But I personally don't like too many steps in my skincare regimen.

Mario Badescu

I purchased the facial spray with Aloe, Herb, and Rosewater. The spray was very refreshing and great as a mid-day pick me up. However, I do think the spray isn't worth the price you pay for it. Sometimes it was a little irritating, and if you have sensitive skin like me then this may not be the product for you. You can make your own spray with 100% rosewater, aloe juice or gel, and mint leaves. Much cheaper and better for your skin!

c. Booth Rosemary Mint Body wash

This body wash was very watery and really dried out my skin. I already have dry skin, with the exception of my face, so having a product that just dried it out more was annoying. My skin flaked so much while using this product.

Shea Moisture

It's no secret that Shea Moisture is popular among the natural hair community. While there has been a lot of controversy surrounding their products, people still swear by them. I tried the Omega Curl Refining Smoothie and the Curling Gel Souffle. I didn't get to try the Omega Curl Refining Smoothie for very long, because of the smell. It wasn't something that I could handle even being on my hair for a second so I had to return it.

I exchanged it for the Coconut and Hibiscus curling cream. That in combination with the gel souffle made my hair severely flake. The gel also left a sticky cast on my face and neck after using it. The cast was hard, which I normally don't mind if it's doing the job, but the flakes just made it look like my hair was dirty. I don't think that combo worked very well in my hair, but perhaps it can work in someone else's.

I'm still searching for a gel that gives me hold without weighing my hair down. Any suggestions?

What are you using right now? Have you ever tried these products, and if so, what did you think of them?
