The Perfect Skincare Routine For People on A Budget

Not having funds for necessities like skincare, which is, in fact, a necessity, can be stressful. When you research a lot of skincare routines, most people are using products that are kind of expensive or aren't always accessible. It's not their fault though, it's just that they are creating content for a certain audience, and for now, you may or may not fit it. But finding decent skincare products doesn't have to break your bank.

It should be calculated in your basic hygiene spending budget. Taking care of our skin on our is something that falls into the hygienic category although most people don't think of it that way. No one wants to walk around with an oily face, crusty lips, or ashy knees.

So how do you accumulate a good skincare routine on a budget you ask? Well, it's important to first know your budget. Calculate your monthly spendings and think about what you can put aside to shop for good skincare products. Second, understand that you don't have to buy everything right then and there.

The two most important products are a PH balancing cleanser and a moisturizer that fits your skin condition if you have any. Once you get those out of the way you can add things like toners, treatments, serums, or masks gradually as you save for certain products that might fit for you.

Based on your skin condition you'll need certain kinds of products. There are varying kinds for people with certain skin types such as dry skin, oily skin, combo skin, or normal skin. There are products for people with conditions like rosacea, hyperpigmentation, or acne. Once you figure out your skin type and skin condition, if you have one, then it'll be easy to find products that'll suit you. The following recommendations are some products that I have tried myself and are all under $20.

Cleansers

CeraVe Renewing SA Cleanser $12.99

La Roche Posay Toleriane Hydrating Cleanser $14.99

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Cleansing gel $8.99

Versed Day Dissolve Cleansing Balm $7.99

Moisturizers

CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion $15.99

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer $19.99

Versed Moisturizing Gel Cream $14.99

Sunscreens

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Lotion Sunscreen SPF 50 $13.49

CeraVe AM Moisturizing Lotion $13.49

Wait, why didn't you mention toners or serums?

Toners and serums are very helpful for skincare, especially when you need to boost the products you're already using. I, however, haven't found many serums that can be found in a typical drug store that isn't Target.

Toners are a great addition to your routine as long as they don't have drying ingredients. Toners were created to rebalance the skin's PH after cleansing. But since we are all using PH balancing cleansers, hopefully, I have not found any drugstore toners that are moisturizing for my skin type. I think first it is important to establish a routine of the basics. A cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen.

In conclusion, you don't have to spend hundreds of dollars to get clear healthy skin. There are plenty of products in various locations in which skincare can be acquired. It's important to note that consistency is the best addition to the routine you have with your skin.

Allow products 30-60 days to work, and make sure that you are listening to your skin. I have oily skin, but that doesn't mean it doesn't get dehydrated sometimes. In those instances, I take extra care to hydrate my skin more from the inside out.

So tell me, what affordable skincare products have you used?
