How to Take Care of Your Skin and Nails

When I was younger vaseline was the way I moisturized my skin. Being a greaseball ensured that I wouldn’t be walking around with ashy elbows and knees. My grandma would say, “you look like somebody loves you” whenever I complained about the film the petroleum product left on my skin. From a young age I learned that keeping your skin moisturized was the best way to take care of it. As I have grown, I’ve learned that nail and body care are just as important as the skin on your face.

I have upped my body and nail care routine and I am excited to share that routine with you. I personally enjoy a combination of body oils and lotion rather than vaseline, but if you are on a budget vaseline can still be a good product to use. Especially on your hands and feet. There are certain things I do on a weekly basis to ensure I am getting the most from the body care products I use such as exfoliating.

I use Dr. Bronner’s Baby Unscented Pure-Castile Liquid Soap to wash my body. This body wash is very gentle on my skin and it doesn’t feel dry after I use it. I use a exfoliating cloth with this sometimes that I got from TJ Maxx, but you can definitely buy one from target, Ulta, or amazon. I use the exfoliating cloth about twice a week, and I use the Skinfix Resurface + Glycolic Scrub once a week. The Skinfix scrub is a chemical exfoliant for the body, and is very effective in making sure the layer of dead skin cells is scrubbed off. I notice that the rest of my body care products soak in well when I use this.

Upon completing my shower I use the Shea Moisture 100% Virgin Coconut Body Oil while my skin is still wet. I like to let this air dry on my skin for about a minute or two before patting my skin dry with a towel. For lotion I have been using the Nivea Enriched Lotion with Almond Oil. After I use my foot file I like to add some more of the Shea Moisture Body oil and then seal in the moisture with the CeraVe Healing Ointment. I make sure to use the Ella + Mila Nail Care Cuticle Oil on my toes and nails once or twice a day. Using oil on your nails can help moisturize them preventing cracks and brittle nails.

I normally shower during the day, but sometimes I do my bodycare routine at night too to make sure my skin isn’t dry. I always use the Supergoop! Glow Oil SPF 50 as my sun protection. This glow oil is amazing because it gives my skin a sunkissed shine while also protecting my skin from the harmful rays of the sun. These products have helped keep my skin hydrated and prevent flaking especially during the winter seasons.

Lotion and Ointment

These two products help with providing moisture and locking that moisture in. It has done wonders for my skin. The ointment has helped so much with my hands and feet. I have naturally dry hands and feet so I have to work hard to keep the moisture in.
